Union Jal Shakti Minister reviews Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in Tamil Nadu


Chennai :-  Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat held a review meeting on the progress of Jal Jeevan Mission in Tamil Nadu and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in Chennai on Thursday.  Shekhawat said that the goal of the Modi government is door-to-door water and cleanliness, while moving towards the goal, it is necessary to assess both the condition and the direction.


 In the review meeting, Tamil Nadu Minister K.N.  Nehru and K.R.  Periyakarappan and departmental high officials were present.  Significantly, there are 1.25 crore rural households in Tamil Nadu.  When the Jal Jeevan Mission was launched in 2019, 21.76 lakh (17.42%) rural households had tap connections.  After three years, their number has increased to 69.72 lakh (55.81%), i.e. 47.96 lakh new connections have been installed in the state after the launch of Jal Jeevan Mission.  The central government aims to connect all rural households with tap connections by 2024.


 

  Meeting with BJP President Annamalai

 In Chennai, Union Minister Shekhawat's BJP Tamil Nadu President K.  Meeting Annamalai was special.  Shekhawat said that Annamalai's energetic and combative personality impresses.  For Tamil Nadu and BJP, he is working with a forward looking progressive thinking.


  Ate food at BJP leader's house

 Union Jal Shakti Minister Shekhawat had food at the house of BJP's Valajapet Mandal President and Dalit leader Bupathy during his stay in Chennai.  Shekhawat said that there is nothing like eating traditional home cooked food.  He was accompanied by Vinoj, the party secretary in the state and several BJP workers from Kancheepuram.
