Today the team of Election Commission will reach Lucknow to review the preparations for Uttar Pradesh elections.


Lucknow: A high level delegation of Election Commission under the leadership of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sushil Chandra will reach Lucknow today on a three-day visit to review the preparations for the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.  It is worth noting that even before the term of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly ends in the second week of March next year, the commission has intensified the preparations for conducting elections in the state.  For this, the CEC-led delegation will meet with leaders of various political parties on December 28 to start a review of the election preparations in the state.

 According to sources, leaders of various national and regional parties will attend the meeting.  Later in the evening, the commission's team will hold a meeting with the Uttar Pradesh Police, various agencies and nodal officers of the Central Police Force.  It is expected that in view of the possibility of spreading corona infection, all possible options and measures will be taken to conduct the proposed elections in view of the review of the election preparations.



The review team will hold a review meeting on December 29 with all the ten divisions of Uttar Pradesh as well as all the district election officers of Uttar Pradesh, District Superintendent of Police and Inspector General of Police.  During the election, other administrative aspects including security arrangements will be discussed.  After this, the commission's team will hold a decisive review meeting on December 30 with the Chief Secretary of the State Government and the Director General of Police of the State.  An official of the Commission said that after three days of extensive deliberations on various aspects of election preparations with all the stakeholders related to the election process, the Commission will finalize the action plan for conducting the elections.
